Virginia has extensive clinical experience from early intervention with babies, children experiencing mild developmental delay to children with very complex needs including cerebral palsy, other neurological, metabolic, genetic and neuromuscular conditions. She has provided specialist consultations for such children both in the NHS and within the Bobath centres and rehabilitated children after Botulinum toxin injections, orthopaedic surgery and selective dorsal rhizotomy.
Virginia is a paediatric Bobath tutor and can provide detailed assessment and analysis of children’s function and movement; highly skilled clinical reasoning and Bobath therapy along with other therapy ‘tools’ and approaches.
Bobath is a holistic type of therapy for children with cerebral palsy or similar neurological conditions. It involves a thorough assessment of what your child can do and how they do it, and what they find difficult or are unable to do. The main factors limiting the child’s progress can then be identified and therapy devised to address these. Wherever possible parents and carers are trained in how to integrate therapy into everyday activities.
Private Physiotherapy Sessions
Private one-off consultations, short term therapy (<4 sessions) and occasional longer-term therapy is available. Initial consultations include provision of a report and home activity programme.
This therapy is provided through visits to your home. Virginia currently works almost full time within the NHS, so usually sees private patients early evening or at weekends and occasionally during the day on weekdays.
